What am I signing up for?

Revolutionary Earth delivers weekly produce boxes directly to the front doors of food-insecure residents of Rochester and surrounding areas throughout the growing season for free.

Is it really free?

Yes! It will always be free for as long as you remain a subscriber to our program. We are a group of compassionate volunteers who grow food locally in an effort to improve our city and reduce food insecurity.

Where and how is the food grown?

We ask local homeowners to donate their backyards to be converted into organic gardens. Our volunteers plant, tend, and harvest the produce, then deliver directly to each of our subscribers. We call it compassion-supported agriculture, and we think it's going to catch on!

How much produce will I get each week? What will be in the box?

Because gardens change over the season, you'll get something new in your box every week. We try to grow a variety of vegetables and fruit to make sure that we provide lots of healthy and nutritious choices for everyone. If you don't like a certain kind of vegetable, or love another kind, just let us know. We curate each box to the needs of each subscriber. If you're signed up before we plant, you'll be able to request vegetables and fruits to be grown specifically for you.

When do you deliver?

We generally harvest on Thursdays and try to distribute on Fridays.

Do you use pesticides or herbicides? How do I know the food is safe?

We never use chemical pesticides or herbicides, and we use a no-till method that is good for the earth. We run soil tests on all of our garden plots, and our volunteers use sanitary techniques when they harvest and package your produce. Our standards are as high as commercial produce operations, except that we don't allow our produce to sit in chemically-infused refrigeration units like the big produce distributors. We also don't let our produce sit for days or weeks at a time in transit to its location. Our goal is for less than 24 hours to pass between when we harvest our produce and deliver it to you. We are confident that you will always be able to count on us.

What about my privacy?

We never share your personal information with anyone, and our delivery volunteers sign confidentiality agreements that protect the location of your home. We never take pictures or video of any of our subscribers without permission, and your personal information is encrypted. We value your privacy above all.

The produce is great, but do you ever include other non-food items in the delivery?

We're glad you asked! Check out our Alliance page to learn more about what else we can do for you. We're not just a Farm that grows good food for you. We're also committed to changing your household economy for the better by finding all sorts of other material items to help you. Throughout the season, our staff will work with you to find the everyday items you lack. Household items like toiletries and diapers, clothing, bus passes, gift cards for local businesses, even small appliances are things that we'll work to deliver to you. If you need it, let us know, and we'll do our best to include it in your box. We're working hard this year to source bread, milk, eggs, and seasonal fruit to include as local union options as well.

What if I want to volunteer to help, or work for my own share?

We are always looking for more volunteers, and we'd love it if you'd join us, but only if you've got the time and energy. You can join us as an occasional volunteer and help us when you can, or join our Work Share Program. Learn more at Thanks!
